I am thrilled to express my appreciation to our 2024 TGS Board of Directors. We say goodbye to Steve King who has served the Society for 11 years as treasurer. He has been very reliable and a solid leader during his terms and his presence on the Board of Directors will be greatly missed. We also are saying goodbye to Michelle Bates, who has added so much creativity in her service on the Board and as E-News Editor. Michelle has other commitments that need her attention, and we let her go reluctantly. Liz Mosier has served several terms on the Board as Secretary. Her diligence in recording the minutes of our Board meetings has been greatly appreciated.
There are others who are somewhat behind the scenes at TGS, and I want them to know we appreciate their involvement. Jim Hemphill has served as Nomination Chair for several terms; Annette has served as our Society Research Chair; Darrell Lewis, Finance Chair, and Deronda Moore, who does an outstanding job keeping our TGS Website as current as possible.
Thanks to those who stepped forward to help fill the vacating positions: Annette Corbell as Secretary and Beth Clinton as treasurer. Board positions are so often hard to fill. Be thinking about next year and if you’d like to volunteer in this way. And to all of you who have supported our meetings this past year, thanks.
Tulsa Genealogical Society will take a summer vacation until September. The Board of Directors and our SIG group, Research Desk with Annette, will take the month of July off and regroup in August. We will stay in touch with you via email regarding our progress in preparing for 2025-2026.
The September 13th general meeting will be a celebration of the 60th anniversary of TGS. Put that date on your calendar today! We’ll be looking for volunteers to help us celebrate in a big way. Have a great summer everyone and keep climbing that family tree!
