TGS General Meeting (2023-2024)

TGS General Meeting (2023-2024)

PaulaNovember 2023 Meeting Information

Did great-grandpa or another family member traverse this nation as he worked for the railroad? For which railroad did he work? Where did it run? Are there railroad records which may give us personal details? Visuals and references demonstrate the wealth of historical materials available all across the U.S. and with some specifics for Oklahoma and surrounding states. The railroads helped to develop places and other businesses. When this lecture is over you will know where to turn to find out more about the railroad, its records, and where to find them.

Paula Stuart-Warren, CG, FMGS, FUGA, is an internationally recognized genealogical educator, researcher, and consultant focusing on unusual resources, manuscripts, methodology, and analyzing records. She also specializes in Native American research, the WPA, and railroad records. She has spent extensive research time at libraries, courthouses, libraries, state archives, historical societies, and at various locations of the U.S. National Archives. She is currently a coordinator and instructor for the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh. She has presented courses for Research Write Connect Academy, Ancestry Academy, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, Family Tree University, and continues to present virtual seminars and webinars across the U.S. and in Canada. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, of the Minnesota Genealogical Society, a former officer of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and has been a Board-Certified Genealogist since 1988.

She is descended from eight ancestral countries and has researched family connections across the U.S. and Canada. Her late father-in-law was born in Arkansas and grew up in Oklahoma. She currently has her own educational website and blog at http://genealogybypaula.com and is enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and continuing education.

This will be a live virtual event and is co-sponsored by the Tulsa Genealogical Society. You may attend in person at the Muskogee Public Library’s Grant Foreman Room, or register to attend via Zoom. Paula will be presenting, live via Zoom, so there will be the opportunity to ask questions after her lecture.

Paula’s presentation will be recorded and available for 2 weeks to MCGS and TGS Members only. Please register to attend either in-person and via Zoom.
